USA. The first American pharmacy opened in 1729 in Philadelphia; changed hands till in 1752 it was bought by Dr. William Hunter, a Scottish doctor, from Newport, Rhode Island. Dr. Hunter formulated 'Number Six Cologne', which George Washington favoured. Merged with I Hazard then later with Massey & Co., so can claim to be the oldest American perfume company; also at 25th Street, New York
