Douglas Collins & Co Ltd established in 1932 with Buzz Stevens, factory at Great College St, Campden Town, London also in Mayfair, London; company closed in 1935, but retained rights to 'Jaeger Braken'; produced first phial perfume in 1937; re-launched own business in 1936 under the name 'La Fontaine'; expanded and changed name to Douglas R.Collins Ltd in 1937 and change perfumery name to Goya un-aware of the famous Spanish artist of the same name. Amalgamated with J.C. and J Field Ltd in 1952; sold out to Reckitt & Sons in 1962. Bought Goya back in 1964 with his son Christopher in charge; Douglas Collins died suddenly aged 59 in 1972; In 1975 business sold to I.C.I.; fragrances continued to be launched | |||
