USA Born Estée Mentzer of Hungarian descent in Queens New York.
First worked in a beauty parlour, her uncle, a ‘skin doctor’ taught
her how to make skin creams, which she successfully tried out on her
customers. Marries Joseph Lauder, together start Estée Launder
in 1946, her son Léonard now runs the company. First perfume Youth
Dew was launched in 1953. Owns former independents such as Bobbi Brown,
Mac, Stila, Aveda, Donna Karen, Tommy Hilfiger cosmetics and Jo Malone,
as wells as Clinique, Aramis, Prescriptives and Origins; under the Estee
Launder Companies - abbreviated to ELC. Floated on the Stock Exchange
in 1995. She died in New York on 25.04.2004

A soft classical oriental parfum with an unusual oil concentration of 30%, almost triple the usual amount; top notes of orange and spices on heart notes of rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, cassis, cinnamon and carnation, on base notes of balsam of Tolu, amber and musk, classified F5f. It is one of the few perfumes diluted in oil rather than in alcohol. Originally a bath oil that doubled as a perfume .Presented in a nip waist-ed fluted flacon with a gold cap designed by Ira Levy
