First worked in a beauty parlour, her uncle, a ‘skin doctor’ taught her how to make skin creams, which she successfully tried out on her customers. Marries Joseph Lauder, together start Estée Launder in 1946, her son Léonard now runs the company. First perfume Youth Dew was launched in 1953. Owns former independents such as Bobbi Brown, Mac, Stila, Aveda, Donna Karen, Tommy Hilfiger cosmetics and Jo Malone, as wells as Clinique, Aramis, Prescriptives and Origins; under the Estee Launder Companies - abbreviated to ELC. Floated on the Stock Exchange in 1995. She died in New York on 25.04.2004 | ||||
